Ages: 6-12
Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings beginning July 10th.
Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D) are certified therapy dogs trained to be good listeners. This program is a fun, relaxed, and nonjudgmental way to become more confident and simply enjoy reading. Our furry friends want to listen and make you feel great about your reading! Bring a book from home or choose a book from our display.
This program is FREE, but registration is required. Sign up by phoning the Weezie Desk at (508) 228-1110 x 103. We begin taking registrations one week before each session.

Ages: 5+
Join our staff for a behind the scenes tour of the shelter, meet animals, and participate in an enrichment craft activity. Visits are FREE, but sign up is required.

Do you want to meet and learn more about horses, turtles, birds and more? Kids will meet weekly at a different location to get a chance to see and interact with animals in their home environments. The cost for the course is $200. If you are in need of financial assistance, please

Cost per four-week session: $80 (July 1-22 and July 29-Aug 19)
Ages: Preschool to 7 years
Have your little ones come and practice their reading skills while socializing with our adoptable cats. It's a win-win! Our kitties get used to being around children and benefit from lots of attention while the kids not only practice reading, but also learn how to compassionately interact with cats.

Nantucket Atheneum - Weezie Library

Exhibit Dates: August 10 - 17
Humane Education in Art. Come see over a hundred original canvases at our annual art show at the Weezie Library this August. Kids from local summer camps choose an animal-related theme to then paint, draw or collage on a provided canvas to have displayed.
If you would like to participate, free canvases will be available at the shelter for pick-up starting July 7th and completed pieces will need to be dropped back off to the shelter no later than August 8th. Pick-up/drop-off at 11 Crooked Lane (side door).
