Read to a Buddy

Saturdays, Beginning January 27, 2024 from 10:30am to 11:30am

NiSHA and our certified animal therapy teams, in collaboration with NCS, offer Read to a Buddy, a literacy program encouraging pre-reading and reading skills. This program is a fun, relaxed, and nonjudgemental way to become more confident and simply enjoy reading. Bring a book from home or choose a book from the collection.


Registration will open each week on the Monday prior to the Saturday session. There will be three time slots and each session is 20 minutes. There is no fee for this program. Scan the code on the poster to reserve your space.


Parents of children under the age of 6 are encouraged to stay for the session.


Nail Trim Clinic

1st Sunday of the Month - April 7th, May 5th, June 2nd

11 Crooked Lane, Back Parking Lot from 1pm to 4pm


NiSHA is teaming up with two amazing vet techs, Mary Naughton and Kisha Knapp, starting in February to offer affordable nail trims to the community. Join us the first Sunday of each month from 1pm to 4pm in the back parking lot of Offshore Animal Hospital at 11 Crooked Lane. No appointment necessary—first come, first serve.


Cats are welcome between 12:30 and 1pm and must be in carriers.


Payment is $25 (cash only).


Daffy Dog Parade

Children's Beach Bandstand - 15 Harbor Way, Nantucket


Deck out your four-legged companion in their Daffodil best for a howling good time!


NiSHA will once again pair up with the Chamber to host another fabulous Daffy Dog Parade. Registration will take place on the corner of Main and Federal Streets by The Hub on the morning of the parade or you can register at Children's Beach. There will be a suggested donation of $20, which goes towards helping animals in need. Once the cars leave for Sconset, the Dog Parade will commence at Children's Beach in front of the bandstand.


Awards, generously provided by our friends at Geronimo's,  will be presented to the top three for an adorably memorable experience with the family.

Yappy Hour at Wine Festival

Sunday, May 19th from 10:30 to 12:00

Maria Mitchell Association, 33 Washington Street


Come join us with your four-legged friends on the front lawn of Maria Mitchell Association at 33 Washington Street. There will be toys and treats for dogs and a little “hair of the dog” for their humans. Tickets are $25 and funds raised will be donated to NiSHA. Tito’s Handmade Vodka will generously match all funds raised. Bloody Mary’s… Pastries and Treats for Dogs and for their humans! Event begins at 10:30am – the bar opens at 11:00am.

Bartlett's Farm


It’s a new field and it’s a new farm, but the vibe is pure vintage. Join the hippest cats for the coolest event in town: Woofstock 2024! Friday, August 2, 6PM, under the Tent at Bartlett’s Farm. Dig the music, drinks, dancing, and dogs as we raise funds for animals in need.


Retro threads encouraged. Sponsorships are now available. General Admission tickets available soon!


This is NiSHA's only big fundraiser for the year. The funds raised cover a large portion of our annual operating expenses so we can continue to offer our life-saving services and programs all year long. Thank you for supporting the animals! Peace, Love & Licks!

Humane Education in Art. Come see over a hundred original canvases at our annual art show at the Weezie Library this August. Kids from local summer camps choose an animal-related theme to then paint, draw or collage on a provided canvas to have displayed.
